Sherpa Clinical Packaging Moves Blistering Capabilities In-House

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sherpa Clinical Packaging, a leading provider of clinical materials management services is now offering in-house blister packaging capabilities available at its facility in San Diego, CA. The new capability will help Sherpa better serve the increasing demands for primary clinical packaging services.

The blister packaging machine can deal with a variety of product sizes in either cold form or thermoform blister configurations. The machine can produce an all-aluminum blister package for products where moisture and light permeability must be kept to a minimum. Where a clear package is desired, the machine can quickly be changed over to produce a thermoform blister package using a high moisture barrier PVC/ACLAR® film structure or other plastic films to achieve the desired look and protective properties.

Sherpa also has the ability to seal the blister strips into wallet or tri-fold card designs to enhance patient compliance with clinical studies.

"We are very excited about this new capability in our portfolio of clinical trial packaging and labeling services," said Mark Shepanski, Sr. Director of Operations. "The addition further expands the offerings we can provide our clients for their global clinical trials. The new capability allows us to control the product quality and greatly reduce project timelines for our customers' clinical trials for solid dose pharmaceuticals."
