Shentex pH Natural(R) 5.5 PF Exam Gloves Decrease Occurrence of Dermatitis

(August 31, 2010) – Results from clinical studies have shown that Shentex pH Natural® 5.5 powder-free examination gloves can decrease the occurrence of skin irritation and dryness in long-term wearers.

A study printed in the January 2006 issue of Contact Dermatitis explores the link between changes in skin pH and the development of skin irritation. 20 participants wore gloves for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Each participant served as their own control group, with one hand donning a Shentex pH Natural® 5.5 powder-free examination glove and the other wearing a standard glove. Skin pH and transepidermal water loss were measured both during the study and two days after its conclusion. Any possible signs of skin irritation were also noted. Research findings show that the Shentex pH Natural® 5.5 powder-free examination glove helped participants maintain a lower skin pH and less dryness than the standard gloved hand. Additionally, the Shentex pH Natural® 5.5 powder-free examination glove resulted in less evidence of skin irritation.

Shentex pH Natural® 5.5 powder-free examination gloves utilize a patent-pending technology to aid in restoring the natural pH of the skin, while moisturizing dry, chapped hands. Wearers feel refreshed and have less hand fatigue when compared to donning standard alternatives.
