French drugs firm Sanofi Synthelabo (SASY.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) , which has launched a hostile takeover bid for larger rival Aventis (AVEP.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) , does not envisage a merger with Swiss pharmaceuticals firm Novartis (NOVN.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) , Sanofi's chairman said in an interview published on Monday.
