San Francisco Becomes Biological Choice; City's Starting to Attract More Biotechnology Firms

Want to find some biotechnology companies? You don't have to go to South San Francisco or Emeryville. All you need to do is hop on a Market Street bus. San Francisco officials have long lamented the dearth of biotech companies in the city, despite the fact that scores of companies located elsewhere have arisen from UCSF's research. City officials have campaigned to lure some of the companies away from the suburban biotech centers surrounding San Francisco, promoting the Mission Bay development near China Basin as the big hope to build a significant cluster.
