Rx-360 Completes Training Workshops In Africa Covering Good Distribution Practices

In March, 2016, Rx-360 and its member companies concluded a series of free workshops across Africa covering training in global requirements for Good Distribution Practices (GDP). Good Distribution Practice is the part of quality assurance which ensures that products are consistently stored, transported and handled under suitable conditions as required by the marketing authorization (MA) or product specification. Only a few years ago, there were few international requirements for GDP. Today, there is no single global GDP standard; more than 85 countries have promulgated rules regarding GDP.
To develop these free training sessions, Rx-360 and its participating members distilled requirements from the 80+ GDP rules to ensure the training workshops encompassed concepts including but not limited to: the handling, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products in line with best global practices. Workshops were conducted in: Ghana (June 2014), Kenya (February, 2015), South Africa (September, 2015), and most recently, Dubai (March, 2016).
Participation in these meetings included individuals from across Africa. In the most recent Dubai training session, participants came from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Participants found the workshop material insightful and practical. Training sessions are designed to help individuals assimilate the various requirements around the world and enable them to navigate the complex landscape. In total, it is estimated that Rx-360 helped more than 250 participants better understand global GDP requirements.
