Royal Philips Electronics N.V. Receives ‘Champion For Change’ Award From Practice Greenhealth For Second Consecutive Year

ANDOVER, Mass. & PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced that it has received the ‘Champion for Change’ award from Practice Greenhealth during an awards ceremony held last night at the annual CleanMed Conference and Exposition , the premier environmental conference for leaders in healthcare sustainability. Practice Greenhealth is North America’s leading healthcare community that empowers its members to create better, safer, greener workplaces and communities.

“The ‘Champion for Change’ award is a great testimonial to our strategy to continuously reduce the environmental impact of our operations, making the world healthier and more sustainable through innovation.”

This marks the second consecutive year that Philips has received this honor in recognition of its green health practices and sustainability initiatives across the organization. The ‘Champion for Change’ Award honors businesses that demonstrate successful accomplishments in making their own organization “greener” and have assisted their customers in improving their environmental performance as well.

In multiple “Green Healthcare” projects around the globe, Philips has supported hospitals to realize electricity savings in excess of 50 percent in lighting and medical equipment and helped free-up significant resources for improving the healthcare environments for patients and staff. Philips SmarthPath and Philips Diamond Select programs are strong examples of how Philips enables their customers to re-use materials and to take benefit of the Circular Economy paradigm shift.

“The depth of Philips’ commitment to sustainability and to supporting their healthcare customers in realizing cost savings through green efficiencies, while improving patient satisfaction and staff productivity, is clearly evident,” said Jeff Brown, Executive Director of Practice Greenhealth. “We are recognizing Philips once again this year, for consistently delivering resource-efficient healthcare solutions to their clients and assisting them in improving their environmental performance.”

“Sustainability is part of our ambition to make the world healthier and to improve the lives of 3 billion people a year by 2025”, said Brent Shafer, CEO Philips North America. “The ‘Champion for Change’ award is a great testimonial to our strategy to continuously reduce the environmental impact of our operations, making the world healthier and more sustainable through innovation.”
