Rim a Dog? Pfizer Inc. (PFE) Extends an Invitation
7/31/2012 7:37:28 AM
File this under ‘oops!’ Or maybe ‘what were they thinking?’ In their quest to promote Rimadyl, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory for dogs, Pfizer has developed an online marketing campaign that invites consumers to Rim-a-Dog. If this gives one pause, there is a reason – the urban dictionary defines rimming a dog this way: the act of lifting up a dog’s tail, kneeling behind the dog, and licking it’s poop chute. Clearly, this is a moment of unintended consequences for the Pfizer team, which usually has the werewithwal to avoid such faux pas. Yet, Pfizer not only has Rimadyl.com to direct consumers to Rimadyl information, but also Rimadog.com (type it in the URL to see what happens), where you can become a community member. As Gawker noted when first reporting this gaffe, Pfizer is now a name you can trust, when it’s time to Rimadog.
