Researchers Uncover Colon Cancer Stem Cells
TORONTO, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Canadian and Italian scientists have identified and characterized a specific type of colon cancer cell capable of initiating tumor growth in mice. Both papers lend support to the theory that, within a tumor, only a subset of cells -- cancer stem cells -- are responsible for tumor formation and maintenance.
