Red-heads Bear Pain Better Than Blondes And Brunettes

A recent research shows that red-headed women are better at bearing pain than blondes or brunettes. According to the researchers, ginger haired females, such as Fergie and actress Nicole Kidman are able to cope with pain in a better manner, as their bodies carry a gene called Mc1r, that causes the colouring, but dulls any discomfort. Now British scientists are trying to develop a painkilling drug from the gene, by using genetically-engineered mice as it endures pain better. The preliminary findings will be investigated in a study to be launched in Britain by the Medical Research Council's Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh which has recruited a panel of redheads to take part in the research.
