Quintiles, Inc. Buddies Up to Eli Lilly and Company With New Indy Office, Plans to Hire More by End of Year

Durham-based Quintiles is expanding its presence in Indianapolis by signing a five-year lease for about 12,000 square feet in the Pan Am building in that city’s downtown.

Spokesperson Phil Bridges confirms the move into the building, whose offices will serve a collaborative project between Quintiles and Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY).

“The goal of the collaboration has been to develop an integrated approach to optimizing how trials are conducted, eliminate costly inefficiencies and use ‘big data’ to drive better drug development decisions,” Bridges says.

Initially, 50 people will work in the space and that number could grow to 65 by the end of the year, he says.

The expansion will have no impact on local employees in Durham, Bridges says. The 12-story Pan Am Plaza office building has been nearly 40 percent vacant, according to a report by the Indianapolis Star.
