IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Quest International announced that the Totoku ME551i2, 5 megapixel display has been granted 510(k) approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in all digital mammography applications.
The ME551i2 is a 21.3-inch, 5 megapixel, DICOM-compliant diagnostic display with an 11.9-bit grayscale palette and 750 cd/m2 brightness. In addition, the (L)-Uniformity Matrix luminance equalization feature achieves highly accurate luminance uniformity across the screen. Another notable characteristic of ME551i2 is its display accuracy control capability. The (L)-Sentinel II photometer is mounted in front of the screen and monitors the backlight constantly to accurately stabilize luminance. (L)-Sentinel II uses this data, as well as internal temperature data, to quickly stabilize calibrated luminance and maintain it for tens of thousands of hours.
"Totoku's ME551i2 offers a superb combination of image quality and value," says Herb Berkwits, Product Manager for Quest International. "For example, the new (L)-Uniformity Matrix reduces the luminance variance specification by more than 50% over the specification of an uncorrected panel. When using this monitor for critical applications such as Flat Field Digital Mammography (FFDM), this can make the difference in a delicate diagnosis. Similarly, this monitor's ability to display an 11.9-bit grayscale further improves a radiologist's ability to differentiate between malignant and benign breast lesions."
