SCHOFIELD, Wis., Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PuraMed BioScience®, Inc., (OTCBB:PMBS), a researcher, developer, and marketer of over-the-counter (OTC) medicinal and healthcare products, announced today that it will sponsor the 5th Miles for Migraine Race San Francisco by supplying $5,000 of LipiGesic M for the participants.

Miles for Migraine, a registered 501c3 nonprofit, will host the 5th Miles for Migraine race on September 14, 2013 in San Francisco. "We are honored to be part of the effort to increase the awareness of migraine," said Russ Mitchell, CEO PuraMed BioScience. "Miles for Migraine and PuraMed BioScience share the same goal: to improve the lives of people who suffer with migraine. It's a great fit.

"We hope that we will not only help increase awareness, but also hope that by donating LipiGesic M that we will give the runners a tool for migraine treatment that stops migraine pain," said Mitchell.

LipiGesic M is a homeopathic formulation of feverfew and ginger delivered in a sublingual gel. Clinical trial results show that LipiGesic M has an efficacy rate that exceeds the number-one-selling triptan medication. In addition, LipiGesic M has not been shown, in the clinical trial or in everyday use, to cause drowsiness or rebound headache even if a migraineur takes the medication frequently.

"More people suffer from migraine than diabetes and asthma combined; yet it receives a fraction of funding for research," said Miles for Migraine Executive Director Joanne Fedeyko. "With local and national growth key to our mission of raising awareness, I'm thrilled San Francisco will once again host Miles for Migraine and help spread the word that migraine is more than 'just a headache.' With one in four American families impacted by migraine, we know that there is a huge population to get behind our cause."

Migraine is the leading brain disorder in the United States. Over 50 million American adults, teens, and children suffer from migraines or sinus headaches, which are often misdiagnosed migraines. In a 2004 report, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified severe migraine in the same category of disability with quadriplegia or terminal stage cancer.
