ProPep Lands FDA 510(k) Clearance for Nerve Monitoring Device
ProPep Surgical, a company out of Austin, Texas, received FDA clearance for its ProPep Nerve Monitoring System for locating nerves during robotic-assisted surgeries with the da Vinci technology. The system, which was cleared in Europe back in April, sends electrical signals into soft tissue via da Vinci’s instruments and in real time analyzes the results, allowing the surgeon to quickly find and avoid damage to nerves. Pep Monitor – generates the specific electrical signal used to stimulate the tissue of interest, and records, analyzes and displays the tissues response to that signal which enables a surgeon to distinguish between nerve containing versus non-nerve containing tissue.
