Prime Therapeutics Is Certified For NCQA Utilization Management And Health Information Products - Pharmacy Benefit Information

ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has certified Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime), a leading pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), in two areas: 1) Utilization Management and 2) Health Information Products (HIP) specifically Pharmacy Benefit Information.

According to NCQA, the HIP Certification in Pharmacy Benefit Information demonstrates Prime's expertise in gathering and disseminating health care information for health plan members and is consistent with NCQA health information standards. The Utilization Management Certification focused on consumer protection and customer service improvement shows that Prime's systems, processes and personnel who conduct utilization management reviews follow NCQA's strict quality standards.

"These certifications showcase Prime's commitment to clear communication to members and to help safeguard members so they can get the medicine they need to feel better and live well," said Ann Tobin, chief compliance officer at Prime. "It also means our clients plan sponsors can delegate complex prescription drug programs to Prime and have confidence in our service excellence to members."

NCQA Certification is a voluntary review process.

These certifications, which are effective Jan. 1, 2017, are on the heels of Prime also receiving full accreditation from URAC for its pharmacy benefit management, specialty and mail service pharmacies, the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for its specialty pharmacy, and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy®'s (NABP®) Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites® (VIPPS®) accreditation for its mail service pharmacy.
