Debate has long surrounded the use of perioperative ß-blockade: Just when do the benefits outweigh the risks? The answer may lie in the timing, according to results of an observational study presented at the 2010 annual meetings of the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (abstract 802692) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (abstract A781).
