PolyRemedy, Inc. Further Enhances Personalized Woundcare System With CMS Code Classification of Customized Antimicrobial Dressings

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - January 06, 2011) - PolyRemedy, a provider of personalized wound care systems, today announced the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has confirmed reimbursement codes for its customized antimicrobial dressings.

Customized dressings comprise the therapeutic portion of PolyRemedy's integrated Personalized Woundcare System (PWS™) that also includes expert, protocol-driven wound assessment and dressing selection tools, as well as real-time feedback and alert notification throughout the wound healing process. CMS has confirmed coding for PolyRemedy's PolyFIT™ Antimicrobial Dressings that promote an optimized wound healing environment without causing resistance to specific bacteria. Embedded with a 0.3% concentration of Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB), PolyFIT Antimicrobial Dressings are specifically designed for managing wound exudate and microbial proliferation within the dressing, while maintaining a moist wound environment. PHMB is uniquely bonded to proprietary PolyRemedy micro-fibers to ensure an optimal healing environment while reducing bioburden in the dressing.

"The proper selection of therapeutic interventions at each phase of the healing process is fundamental to promoting effective wound healing," according to Dr. Diane Cooper, Medical Director and Chief of Clinical Affairs, PolyRemedy. "PWS further professionalizes wound care in the sub-acute setting by connecting standardized wound assessment with evidence-based clinical protocols, dressing selection and timely, relevant feedback."

"Providers across medical disciplines and care settings often lack the tools to effectively assess, deliver and manage chronic wounds," said Mark Carbeau, President and CEO, PolyRemedy. "PWS is transforming the way clinicians think about chronic wound care by delivering a comprehensive, integrated system directed at improving patient outcomes and reducing costs. This CMS code designation further expands the tools available to clinicians."
