For the second time in history, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared a global emergency because the number of polio cases continues to rise. The previous one was declared in 2009 due to the swine flu epidemic. Polio is a contagious disease that attacks the nervous system and may cause paralyses. It’s spread through contaminated water supplies.
