Polaris Names Ex-Pfizer Inc. Exec As Area’s First Female VC Partner

Helping reverse a nationwide trend of fewer female venture capitalists in recent years, Polaris Partners has named the only female partner currently at any of the area’s top VC firms.

Amy Schulman, 53, former general counsel and executive vice president at drug giant Pfizer’s consumer healthcare business unit, has been named venture partner at Waltham-based Polaris.

Schulman was named one of the top 10 most influential lawyers in America last year by the legal website, Above the Law, and was named head of one of Pfizer’s three biggest business units last year after several years at the company.
