Pioneer Surgical Technology Announces Plans to Establish Manufacturing and Distribution Facility in Ireland

MARQUETTE, Mich., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer Surgical Technology, Inc., a leader in innovative medical devices, announced today the company's plan to establish a manufacturing and distribution facility in Ireland. Pioneer has initiated discussions with the IDA (Ireland Development Authority) to evaluate potential sites with target opening in Q4 2011. The new facility will support Pioneer's continued growth in Europe by establishing a manufacturing facility within the EU. In addition, the facility will allow for the manufacturing of devices intended for sale outside the United States and allow for more responsive delivery of products in the European market.

Pioneer's global headquarters in Marquette, MI currently coordinates activity at physical properties located in Raleigh and Greenville, North Carolina, Woburn, Massachusetts, and the Netherlands. According to Pioneer's Vice President of Operations, Brian Motter, "While our present manufacturing facility in Marquette will continue to grow, the ability to provide products from a European facility is an essential part of our worldwide growth initiative. Having established a European presence with the opening of our offices in the Netherlands in 2006 we will continue to grow in Europe and the rest of the world. This facility will enable us to be more responsive to customers outside of the United States."

Pioneer's commitment to the local and regional economy remains strong. The company continues to support local educational programs that benefit the company's high-quality, cost-effective manufacturing operations. In 2007, Pioneer expanded its facility in Marquette to more than 110,000 square feet to support continued growth in spinal and orthopedic operations.
