Phoenix Data Systems Introduces Express(TM) 4 At Drug Information Association Annual Meeting

PHILADELPHIA, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Phoenix Data Systems (PDS), a global provider of clinical data management and full-service electronic data capture (EDC) solutions, announces the release of Express(TM) 4 at the DIA Annual Meeting. Express(TM) 4 is an update to PDS' highly acclaimed EDC application geared to help life sciences firms and clinical research organizations efficiently capture, clean and manage data in clinical trials of all phases.

"These latest developments will help our clients get their studies up and running faster and with greater ease," said Doug Cory, VP of New Product Development. "The updated version extends the ease of use and leading EDC functionality, providing greater flexibility for study setup, user and site management and user interface enhancements."

As with previous versions, PDS solutions include an automated coding utility and the PDS Reportal(TM) - a graphing, reporting and real-time trial process visualization module. IVR (interactive voice response) capabilities were also recently added to the integrated PDS application suite.

"Our objective is to deliver continuous enhancements that provide our clients with ever-greater flexibility, accuracy and speed when outsourcing their clinical data management," said Dr. William Claypool, CEO of PDS. "We listen intently to our customer base and these enhancements are a result of their feedback."

By providing software that is easy to learn and use, Express(TM) 4 provides the best available visibility into critical data - as the trial happens - to drive better decision-making. For the sponsor, this helps to increase return-on-investment and lower overall risk. For the sites, it decreases data entry effort and improves user satisfaction.

PDS Express 4 Feature Summary: -- .Net - Express 4 uses the .Net framework to create a channel through which internal and remote systems can easily interact. The benefits include: - Streamlined deployment - Enhanced interoperability with diverse systems - Improved update capability -- Automated Coding - The PDS AutoEncoder, included with every PDS Express deployment, is a medical dictionary tool that streamlines coding. The PDS AutoEncoder supports standard and custom medical dictionaries and brings speed, efficiency and accuracy to study data while improving trial safety. PDS also offers data management services for manual coding needs. -- Seamless CRF Version Management - PDS Express 4 automatically migrates existing subject data from one CRF version to another if mid-study changes or amendments are required. PDS Express 4 updates CRF forms, backend data structures and edit check rules transparently - enabling customers to more easily run studies across multiple time zones without interruption. -- Industry-Leading Usability, Improved - PDS Express 4 extends its high marks for usability with a variety of enhancements to the user interface, including: - Side-By-Side Form Review - The "View in Express" feature allows users to review histories, journals and queries and minimize the side-by-side form. - User Interface - PDS Express 4 uses increased graphical content to show status at a glance, to indicate form changes or highlight items for attention - Forms Locking Flexibility - Enhanced Forms Marking - Hot Keys for Power Users and Data Entry - Listings and Subject Views - Study teams can browse real-time data as defined under the integrated workflow and security models. PDS Express 4 makes it easy to sort, filter and format, eliminating the need to export and manipulate the data in spreadsheets. -- Program User Administration - PDS Express 4 makes it easy to administer user access for multiple studies in a complex program using the same user ID and password. -- Anywhere/Anytime Data Collection and Cleaning - PDS Express 4 is the most powerful and most reliable way to support eSource trials and sites that are not permanently connected to the Internet. Remote sites and on-the-go monitors can enter and verify data from difficult locations or on the road and synchronize with a central server using virtually any form of connectivity. -- Lab Data Capture and Management - PDS Express 4 automatically processes local and central lab data, integrating it into the CRFs and making it available for review and analysis in real-time. This allows sites and monitors to catch discrepancies earlier by automatically performing unit conversions, comparing data to lab and reference ranges and providing central and site-based tools for analyte and range management. -- Enhanced Reporting - Users can now create ad hoc reports and define parameters for custom reports. PDS Express 4 offers more options for views into data and better decision-making at every level. -- Improved Security and Privacy Compliance - PDS Express 4 allows sponsors to support multinational studies with different regulatory requirements with greater ease. - Object Level Permissions - Permissions at the form level rather than just at the role/profile level. For example, object level permissions can disable visibility for a specific user and form in the study design. - Complex Passwords - enhance security access to the application. - Roaming Profiles - Users are presented with a consistent view of study data no matter which study database they log into, and can see only the data that they are allowed to see.
