Pharmahungary Group And Ashok & Rita Patel Institute To Develop Cardioprotective Molecules For Treatment Of Acute Myocardial Infarction

Budapest, Hungary; Gujarat, India; December 15th 2016.

Pharmahungary Group and Ashok & Rita Patel Institute of Integrated Study and Research in Biotechnology & Allied Sciences (ARIBAS) have secured funding via the Indo-Hungarian Inter-Governmental Science & Technology Cooperation Programme to develop matrix metalloproteinase-2 inhibitors for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction.

The grant application of Pharmahungary Group and ARIBAS titled “Synthesis, chemoinformatic development, optimization and preclinical testing of matrix metalloproteinase-2 inhibitors for cardioprotection” to develop lead molecules for treatment of myocardial infarction has received funding from the National Research, Development, and Innovation Office of Hungary and Department of Science & Technology of India.

“The funding will allow us to further develop one of our patented technologies, i.e. novel MMP2 inhibitors for the treatment of myocardial infarction along with our new concept for MMP inhibitor development for acute ischemic diseases.” said Prof. Peter Ferdinandy, Founder & CEO of Pharmahungary Group.

“We have a strong base in chemo informatics and computational studies, as well as we are also good in synthesis. This funding provides us opportunity to collaborate in preclinical studies within the framework of EU regulatory guidelines established in Pharmahungary” said Professor Nilanjan Roy Head of ARIBAS.

“With the computational studies, root optimization, and chemo-informatics development performed by ARIBAS we will have a better chance for valorisation of lead molecules of Pharmahungary Group, as well as develop further novel MMP-2 inhibitors. Furthermore, we strengthen the scientific and technology collaboration between Hungary and India” added Prof. Ferdinandy.
