Pfizer Inc. May Spend $205 Million to Clean Superfund Site

It could cost Pfizer up to $205 million and take a decade to clean up nearly all of the contaminated American Cyanamid site in Bridgewater, according to a company study that’s awaiting federal approval. In a peek offered to the public today during hearings in Bridgewater and Bound Brook, the pharmaceutical giant promised an end is in sight for cleaning up the federal Superfund site. The study has been ongoing since 2004, when state and federal environmental officials found that contamination of the 435-acre property was far greater than anticipated.
