Pfizer Inc. Gives Caduet Japan Sales Rights to Astellas Pharma Inc.

Pfizer , the world's biggest drugmaker, said on Friday it will hand the Japan distribution rights for its high blood pressure and cholesterol drug Caduet to Japan's Astellas Pharma. The two pharmaceutical firms have been marketing Caduet together in Japan since its launch in the country in December 2009, but from October, Astellas will book its sales, which are currently being taken by Pfizer. The impact from this move on Astellas' financial forecast for the year that ends in March 2012 will be immaterial, the two companies wrote in a joint statement.
