Pfizer Animal Health Extends Support for the AKC Canine Health Foundation

RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwire - June 12, 2012) - The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) announces today that Pfizer Animal Health extends its support of the Foundation with a donation of $250,000. This donation marks the third year of partnership between Pfizer Animal Health and CHF and represents Pfizer Animal Health's commitment to the CHF mission -- helping dogs and their owners live longer, healthier lives.

In addition to their annual donation, Pfizer Animal Health also provides scientific leadership to the AKC Canine Health Foundation. In March of 2012, Dr. Elizabeth Settles, Associate Director of Global Alliances with Pfizer Animal Health, was elected to the Foundation's Board of Directors. Dr. Settles earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Auburn University in 1990. She also attended the University of San Francisco School of Law, graduating with her JD and a certificate in Intellectual Property and Internet Technology Law in 2002.

"We are very grateful for the renewed support of Pfizer Animal Health," says Dr. Terry Warren, CEO and General Counsel of the AKC Canine Health Foundation. "Dr. Settles' combined experience in veterinary medicine, the law and the pharmaceutical industry is an asset to our Board of Directors. We look forward to working with her and the Pfizer Animal Health team to advance our shared commitment to canine health."

Karen Greenwood also lends expertise to the CHF Grants Committee. Ms. Greenwood has been with Pfizer Animal Health Research and Development for more than twenty years. She currently leads the Companion Animal Discovery Unit based in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

"Karen Greenwood's scientific expertise and experience have become essential to our review of grant applications," says Dr. Shila Nordone, CHF Chief Scientific Officer. "She is always a major contributor to our discussions, and her comments have clearly had a major impact on furthering the high quality of biomedical research being supported by the Foundation."

Through their collaboration with CHF, Pfizer Animal Health is furthering their Commitment to Veterinarians. Joint projects between CHF and Pfizer Animal Health will focus on increasing veterinarians' involvement with CHF and providing additional educational resources to the veterinary community.
