Pension Fund Sues St. Jude Medical Over Durata Safety Claims

St. Jude Medical Inc. and three of its top officers have been sued by a Massachusetts-based public employee pension plan, alleging that St. Jude made misleading statements about the quality and safety of the wires used in its Durata cardio-defibrillator. Bloomberg reports on the lawsuit by Canton, Mass.-based Norfolk County Retirement System. The suit targets Little Canada-based St. Jude as well as CEO Daniel Starks, Chief Financial Officer Donald Zurbay and John Heinmiller, an executive vice president.
