Particle Sciences and NETZSCH Premier Technologies Enter Into Collaboration

3/6/2013 9:04:49 AM

BETHLEHEM, Pa., March 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Particle Sciences, a leading drug delivery CRO, has teamed up with NETZSCH Premier Technologies, a leading manufacturer of wet milling and dispersing equipment, to provide drug developers with improved access to state-of-the-art pharmaceutical nanomilling equipment and full pharmaceutical development capabilities. According to Robert Lee, PhD, Vice President Pharmaceutical Development, "Particle Sciences has been using particle size reduction in both dry and liquid-dispersed states for decades. With this collaboration, we acquired a NETZSCH DELTAVITA® Mill, which is one of the premier systems for pharmaceutical applications. There is a growing demand for wet-milled products, particularly with respect to sterile products. In fact, we are currently working on approximately 20 milling projects the majority being sterile products. The additional capability allows our clients to get into the clinic faster with a commercially representative manufacturing process." Particle Sciences focuses on commercially-ready, advanced drug delivery technologies and is FDA registered and licensed for all schedules of controlled substances. Randall Smith, President of NETZSCH Premier Technologies adds, "Particle Sciences provides customers that are interested in wet milling access to full development capabilities, including being able to take their products from feasibility into preclinical testing then ultimately human clinical trials and commercialization. They will be a valuable partner to fully demonstrate the utility of our equipment and we will work with them as they continue to expand."

Particle Sciences is an integrated provider of drug development services. Particle Sciences focuses on BCS II/III/IV molecules, biologics and highly potent compounds through a variety of technologies including emulsions, gels, micro and nano-particulates, drug/device combination products, solid solutions and others.
