Pantec Biosolutions AG Receives "Honourable Mention" In Red Dot Awards

7/30/2010 1:01:54 PM

Ruggell, Liechtenstein, 30 July 2010- Pantec Biosolutions AG, a privately-owned company developing innovative technologies for transdermal drug delivery, today announced that its first manufactured product, P.L.E.A.S.E.® Professional’ received an "honourable mention" at the "red dot award: product design 2010" for its particularly successful and innovative design solutions. The red dot awards for product design recognise outstanding international product design in a variety of industry sectors including medical devices.

P.L.E.A.S.E.® Professional is a benchtop product for medical practice, implementing a new kind of medication-administration. The device’s distinctive design incorporates a hand-laser with which the physician applies a microporation technique to the skin, thus preparing the area for a medicated patch. As opposed to the often painful injection of medications - for example hormone therapies - the P.L.E.A.S.E.® Professional laser-system is pain-free. Marc Ruta and Milan Marovac from WILDDESIGN were responsible for the conception and the product development of this laser-system, allowing the users an intuitive handling of the device by a simple to understand graphical touch screen interface.

Evaluation of the submitted products for the red dot awards is performed by an international panel of judges consisting of eminent design experts. The panel examines and tests the products, assessing them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability and self-explanatory quality. This year, companies from 57 countries presented a total of 4250 products to the judges for evaluation.

Thomas Bragagna CTO of Pantec Biosolutions stated: “Right from the start we wanted to express the real innovation of P.L.E.A.S.E. Professional through the design. We feel that we achieved this and it is super to see the judges agreed! This award is a tribute to the substantial efforts of all the teams involved in designing P.L.E.A.S.E. Professional including Pantec’s in-house development group, the designers from WILDDESIGN and the outsourced plastics engineering experts. We are delighted to have this substantial recognition.”
