Panel Approves The Pill/Folic Acid Combo

An FDA review panel voted unanimously to approve combining oral contraception with folic acid to help prevent birth defects. Johnson & Johnson is asking the FDA to approve the combination pill to help prevent birth defects in infants born to women who either accidentally become pregnant while taking the pill or become pregnant shortly after stopping the pill. The FDA usually follows the recommendations of its panels.
