DANIA BEACH, Fla., March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OrthoSensor Inc., the leader in Intelligent Orthopaedics, will be showcasing its VERASENSE Knee System products and one-year clinical outcomes in booth 6929 at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2014 Annual Meeting in New Orleans's Morial Convention Center from March 12 14.

Data from the VERASENSE Multicenter Evaluation, including one-year clinical outcomes showing 97% patient satisfaction for those patients whose knees were quantifiably balanced with VERASENSE, will be highlighted by Dr. Kenneth Gustke of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL, on Wednesday, March 12 from 3:30 4 p.m. CDT, and by Dr. Gregory J. Golladay of Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, on Thursday, March 13 from 3:30 4 p.m. in the OrthoSensor booth #6929.

The VERASENSE Knee System provides dynamic intraoperative feedback through an intelligent, single-use sensor to enable evidence-based decisions regarding component position, limb alignment and soft-tissue balance. The one-year clinical results showed that patients with quantifiably balanced knees scored higher on pain and functional assessments and reported higher overall patient satisfaction compared to patients with non-quantifiably balanced knees.

The one-year results also yielded statistically significant improvements in Activity Level and the Knee Society Score (KSS). Most notably, non-quantifiably balanced patient scores at one year failed to achieve the level of improvement of the quantifiably balanced patient scores at six months.

"We intuitively knew knee balance was an integral part of total knee replacement, and the one-year clinical results have solidified the importance of the quantitative data provided by the VERASENSE technology to the outcomes of our procedures," said Dr. Gustke. "I'm excited to be able to share our findings and discuss my experience with the technology during this important meeting."

In addition to demonstrations and presentations in the OrthoSensor booth #6929, the VERASENSE technology will also be on display with its respective knee systems in Biomet booth #1749, Smith & Nephew booth #5229, Stryker booth #2549 and Zimmer booth #3149. Surgeons will also be able to learn more about the technology during Zimmer's Evening of Education Wednesday, March 12, and Smith & Nephew's Evening of Education Thursday, March 13.
