Omnicare Inc. appointed John Workman, who has been serving as the company’s interim leader, as CEO.
“John is a proven executive who has provided outstanding leadership to Omnicare, as well as in-depth understanding of our industry and opportunities for sustained growth,” said James Shelton, chairman of Omnicare’s board. The appointment is effective immediately.
Workman, who took over the interim role in June, will also serve on the company’s board.
Omnicare (NYSE: OCR) also appointed Nitin Sahney, chief operating officer, to the additional role of president and promoted Robert “Rocky” Kraft from senior vice president, finance, to chief financial officer, both effective immediately.
Former CEO John Figueroa stepped down on June 11 after just 18 months on the job, offering little public explanation.
Figueroa joined Omnicare at the beginning of 2011 following the departure of long-time top CEO Joel Gemunder in summer 2010.
Omnicare provides pharmaceutical services for the long-term-care industry. The company completed a move this summer to downtown Cincinnati from Covington.
