The Nigerian drug agency announced it has shut down a subsidiary of Unilever in Lagos for allegedly producing toothpaste considered to be "substandard and unfit for human use." "The American company, Unilever, was shut on Thursday in order to get to the root of the matter. We need to mop up from circulation batches of the toothpaste that are unfit for human consumption," Abubakar Jimoh, a spokesman of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), said Monday.
