New York Hospital Installs First Sysmex America, Inc. XS-1000i(TM) Post FDA Clearance

MUNDELEIN, Ill. and WELLSVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Sysmex America, Inc. and Jones Memorial Hospital today announced the hospital's installation of the Sysmex XS-1000i Automated Hematology Analyzer. The new analyzer, cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May of this year for use in clinical laboratories, is the first XS-1000i to be installed post FDA clearance, said John Kershaw, President, Sysmex America, Inc.

In keeping with the hospital's community-based initiatives to provide quality patient care at a maximum level of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, Jones Memorial has installed the Sysmex XS-1000i to complement the lab's addition of the Sysmex XT hematology analyzer and to serve as a back up when needed, according to Debra Doran, MT, Lead Technologist, Hematology.

"The track record for Sysmex's mean time between equipment failures is statistically remarkable. As the only full-service acute care hospital in Allegany County, and as the sole laboratory provider for Community Blue [Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York], our laboratory uptime is critical. The reliability of Sysmex technology and the universal use of its reagents and quality control materials across all of its instruments enable us to be increasingly efficient, cost-effective, and to produce results with unmatched accuracy," said Doran. The XS and XT replace the laboratory's existing instrumentation.

"Sysmex America customers value our advanced technology and the reliability of our products and services. In third party research, laboratories rank Sysmex well ahead of its competitors in lab instruments' reliability. By providing reliable systems, we allow our customers to maintain the maximum level of instrument uptime and productivity," said Kershaw.

This XS-1000i is available both with and without an auto sampler. It utilizes fluorescent flow cytometry and advanced cell-counting methods to deliver rapid, reliable tests results which are essential in advanced patient diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring. This analyzer represents the completion of the Sysmex X-Series family of hematology instruments.
