BOERNE, TX – February 5, 2013 – Stanbio Laboratory has posted new beta hydroxybutyrate laboratory testing content to its on-line Learning Center. A recently recorded Grand Rounds presentation entitled Metabolic Disturbances That Lead to ß-Hydroxybutyrate and Ketone Bodies can now be viewed by medical professionals visiting the Stanbio Laboratory web site at www.stanbio.com/bhb. The web site will link to the Grand Rounds content with a click of the Learning Center icon at the upper right corner of the page. The December presentation was made by James H. Nichols, PhD, DABCC, FACB. Dr. Nichols is Professor of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology, and the Medical Director for Clinical Chemistry at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine.

The Grand Rounds was hosted at a large Mid-western medical school as part of an ongoing clinical education program. More than 40 physicians and clinicians attended to learn about identifying metabolic disturbances through quantitative ketone testing.

“Stanbio’s enzymatic Beta-Hydroxybutyrate LiquiColor® reagent has become one of the testing standards of excellence in clinical laboratories across the United States,” said Gilbert A. Mejia, Stanbio Laboratory Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Our beta hydroxybutyrate products are now used in eight out of the top 10 diabetes and endocrinology hospitals as ranked by a major news magazine. That’s a testament to the clinical efficacy of the reagent and we’re very proud to be contributing to the betterment of diabetic patient testing through the manufacture of this assay,” Mejia added.
