New ECRI Institute Course Educates Researchers On Writing More Effective Evidence-Based Conclusions

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Analyzing a body of clinical data on a health technology can be a challenge for both new and seasoned health technology researchers. But creating clear, actionable conclusions that accurately express their findings may be just as big a challenge.

ECRI Institute's new educational program, "Developing Clear Health Technology Assessment Conclusions for Better Decision Making," is designed to teach attendees how to turn complex clinical research findings into easy-to-read conclusions and abstracts that help hospitals, clinicians, payers, and policy makers make well-informed, timely healthcare decisions.

The two-part webinar series, held September 15 and 22, 2015, features instructors from ECRI Institute's Health Technology Assessment Information Service and Evidence-based Practice Center, who will teach attendees how to:    

• Avoid common pitfalls, such as simple restatements, vague wording, or wishful thinking
• Utilize five components of well-written conclusions, and understand why they're important
• Practice writing clear conclusions using data from three existing systematic reviews
• Understand the motivations for writing clear abstracts
• Learn about PRISMA for Abstracts as a tool to improve abstract writing
