Nassau Community College's New Hospital Simulation Lab Opens

PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 24, 2012 - Exton, Pa. (October 24, 2012) With the opening of the new Life Sciences Building yesterday, Nassau Community College has enriched its nursing education program with the addition of state of the art simulation management technology for clinical skills and simulation training to improve the skills of their nursing students for delivering better patient care in a real clinical environment.

According to Dr. Kenneth Saunders, NCC's Officer-in-Charge, "Our students' hands-on familiarity with this equipment will make for a much more seamless transition from the classroom to the workplace. The prospect of such a seamless transition will both highlight the attractiveness of our graduates to potential employers and prepare the stage for improved patient outcomes in a clinical setting."

Nassau Community College, part of the State University of New York, is an institution where approximately 23,000 full- and part-time students and almost 15,000 continuing and professional students start and continue their successful journey through higher education.

Nassau Community College’s nursing faculty will be able to use EMS’ (Education Management Solutions) simulation management technology to record simulation sessions and provide feedback to students. The technology enables instructors to document and track student learning outcomes and audit their progress. This helps determine if a nursing student will be able to transfer the skills he or she learned to their work with actual patients.
