EMERYVILLE, Calif., Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sepsis is a life threatening, debilitating disease that impacts millions of people worldwide. Education and awareness are fundamental to improving Sepsis diagnosis and care.
September marks Sepsis Awareness Month and September 13th is World Sepsis Day. According to the Sepsis Alliance, "Sepsis, the body's toxic reaction to infection, kills over 258,000 people in the US every year, and thousands more are left with life-altering disabilities, such as limb amputations, organ dysfunction, and post-traumatic stress disorder. While sepsis may not always be prevented, the chances of survival increase dramatically when it is detected and treated in its early stages, particularly the first hour, or the so-called golden hour."
Nanomix is dedicated to the development and commercialization of systems for use in critical disease diagnosis like Sepsis or other critical care indications.
