NanoInk, Inc. Release: Nanotechnology Textbook Written by Nationally Recognized Industry Experts Now Available on Amazon.com (AMZN)

9/18/2012 10:19:22 AM

SKOKIE, Ill. – September 18, 2012 – NanoProfessor®, the global leader in hands-on undergraduate nanotechnology education, announced today that its textbook, “Introduction to Nanoscale Science and Technology,” is now available for purchase on Amazon.com®. The textbook has been written specifically for the undergraduate student and is a valuable resource for anyone seeking a greater understanding of nanotechnology, which is helping create innovations in the areas of physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, medicine, and engineering. The textbook is available for $110 plus shipping and handling at: www.amazon.com/Introduction- Nanoscale-Science-Technology-Version/dp/0983789606/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_t_1.

Schools wishing to purchase bulk copies of the textbook at a discounted rate may contact NanoProfessor directly via email at nanoprofessor@nanoink.net. The NanoProfessor marketing team will respond quickly to all requests.

According to the Partnership for a New American Economy, a bipartisan group dedicated to finding jobs for Americans, there are five times as many non-STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) graduates than STEM graduates in the U.S. Additionally, the growth rate of American students majoring in STEM fields is among the slowest of any category.

“Now that ‘Introduction to Nanoscale Science and Technology’ is available on Amazon.com, undergraduate students and industry professionals can independently learn about working at the nanoscale,” said Dean Hart, chief commercial officer of NanoInk, Inc. “Readers will benefit from an all- star team of industry and educational experts who have been provided a comprehensive examination of nanotechnology and its applications.”

The 255-page textbook covers the topics of Nanotechnology Instrumentation, Imaging and Nanofabrication Techniques, Nanophysics, Nanochemistry, Nanobiology, and Perspectives on Environmental, Health, and Safety within nanotechnology. Excerpts are available at: www.nanoprofessor.net/Excerpts/NP101_Excerpts1.pdf.

The textbook was written collaboratively by nationally recognized nanotechnology subject matter experts including:

? John Ireland, Ph.D., Program Director for NanoProfessor Nanotechnology Textbook Written by Industry Experts Now Available on Amazon.com

? Todd Crane, Ph.D., Chemistry Teacher at Bergen County Academies

? Richard Holz, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Chemistry Department at Loyola University of Chicago

? Steve Lenhert, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Science and Integrative Nanoscience Institute at Florida State University

? Deb Newberry, Director of the Nanoscience Technology Program at Dakota County Technical College.

In just over 24 months, the NanoProfessor Nanoscience Education Program has been chosen to serve as the foundation for undergraduate hands-on nanotechnology education by over 20 educational programs in five countries. The NanoProfessor Program alternates between classroom lectures and exciting, hands-on nanoscale lab work. In conducting the hands-on lab experiments, students learn the fundamentals for building custom-engineered nanoscale structures while working with state-of-the-art, nano-centric instrumentation including NanoInk's NLP 2000 Desktop NanoFabrication System, the first desktop nanofabrication system allowing students to quickly and easily build custom-engineered nanoscale structures with a wide variety of materials from biomolecules to metal nanoparticles using NanoInk’s proprietary Dip Pen Nanolithography® (DPN®).

Nanotechnology is the understanding and control of matter at dimensions between approximately one and 100 nanometers (nm), where unique phenomena enable novel applications which are not feasible when working with bulk materials. A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter. Encompassing nanoscale science, engineering, and technology, nanotechnology involves imaging, measuring, modeling, and manipulating matter at the nanoscale. A study funded by the National Science Foundation projects that six million nanotechnology workers will be needed worldwide by 2020, with two million of those jobs in the United States. However, as of 2008, there were only 400,000 estimated workers worldwide in the field of nanotechnology, with an estimated 150,000 of those in the United States.

About the NanoProfessor Nanoscience Education Program

The NanoProfessor Nanoscience Education Program aims to advance undergraduate nanotechnology education and address the growing need for a skilled, nano-savvy workforce. The NanoProfessor Program, including state-of-the-art instruments, an expert-driven curriculum, and student/teacher support materials, is available for high schools, community colleges, technical institutes, and universities worldwide.
