London, UK, and Bergen, Norway, 23 September 2013: Technology transfer organisation MRC Technology announced today the successful completion of a project in collaboration with Bergen Teknologioverføring AS (BTO). MRC Technology advised BTO on a licensing opportunity, providing recommendations for an optimal route forward.

MRC Technology reviewed a specific Licensing Opportunity managed by Bergen TTO and provided recommendations going forward in terms of patent portfolio management and prospects for commercialisation.

Randi Elizabeth Taxt, Vice President, Bergen Teknologioverføring (BTO), commented: “We are very pleased with the help and advice from MRC Technology regarding this project, their insight and angle was crucial for BTO to reach a decision. BTO is hoping for further collaboration with MRC Technology hereafter.”

“We’re delighted to have been able to help BTO with this project, and look forward to working with them again in the near future,” commented Mike Johnson, MRC Technology’s Director of Corporate Partnerships.

About MRC Technology

MRC Technology (www.mrctechnology.org) is a technology transfer organisation that adds commercial value to cutting edge scientific discoveries through strategic patent protection, creative licensing of intellectual property (IP), partnered research or further scientific development.

MRC Technology has small molecule drug discovery and therapeutic antibody resources and aims to provide lead-stage therapeutic assets to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

As well as offering technology transfer services to the UK’s Medical Research Council the charity has recently broadened its activity to include helping other charitable and academic organisations with IP management and commercial development of healthcare-related science, thus bringing valuable income back to the organisations to help fund further research.
