Mikroscan Appoints Two New Members To Its World-Class Physicians Advisory Board

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - March 04, 2014) - USCAP [Booth 1118] -- Mikroscan Technologies, a pioneer in desktop whole-slide scanning systems for pathology, biology and research applications, announced the appointment of two new Physicians Advisory Board members: Dr. Gregory S. Henderson and Dr. Keith J. Kaplan. They join a list of distinguished and highly regarded specialists in the field of pathology, including Dr. Daniel J. Cowden, MD, who has also been named Mikroscan's Chief Medical Officer, and Dr. John C. Spinoza, MD, PhD, who chairs the Physicians Advisory Board.

Dr. Gregory S. Henderson, MD, PhD
Dr. Henderson received his MD and PhD in immunology from Vanderbilt University Medical Center as an NIH MSTP fellow. His pathology residency training was at the University of Utah and Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by fellowship training in breast and gynecologic pathology at Vanderbilt. He was in private practice in North Carolina for several years and subsequently served as head of anatomic pathology at Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans during the post-Katrina period of reconstruction, which fueled his initial interest in digital pathology solutions to provide diagnoses in low infrastructure regions. He is currently the founder and president of the Seattle-based practice Pacific Pathology Partners and company PathForceDx, both of which utilize innovative cloud-based solutions to provide diagnoses regionally and globally.

Dr. Keith J. Kaplan, MD
Dr. Kaplan founded and directed the Army Telepathology Program, which connected 25 hospitals internationally for consultation via telepathology. While at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Dr. Kaplan was named Resident of the Year and also served as the Medical Director and Consulting Pathologist of Laboratory Services at Keller Army Hospital in West Point, New York. Dr. Kaplan is currently a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathology, American Society of Cytopathology and the American Pathology Foundation (APF). He is also an executive board member of APF. He is also the author of The Digital Pathology Blog.
