Microsoft's Craig Mundie Among New Board Members at Institute for Systems Biology

SEATTLE, April 16, 2013 – Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), the renowned nonprofit research organization that pioneered systems biology, has named three executives from the tech, real estate, and venture capital industries as new members of its board of directors. The new board members each have demonstrated an effective ability to scale growth and innovation in their respective sectors, and are believers in the promise of systems biology to shift the healthcare paradigm from reactive medicine to personalized wellness and prevention. New Members of ISB’s Board of Directors:

• Douglas Howe: Howe is the president and founder of Touchstone Corporation, a Seattle-based commercial real estate company that focuses on the development of urban infill projects and leads the industry in designing and constructing high-performance, sustainable green buildings. More info

• Craig Mundie: Mundie is the senior advisor to Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corp. He works on key strategic projects within the company, as well as with government and business leaders around the world on technology policy, regulation and standards. More info

• Dr. Drew Senyei: Senyei is the managing director of Enterprise Partners Venture Capital, the largest venture firm in Southern California. He specializes in building emerging life sciences and healthcare companies. More info

“In order for ISB’s research to have the greatest impact, it must have scalability,” said Dr. Lee Hood, co-founder and president of ISB, and recent recipient of the National Medal of Science. “The collective breadth and depth of experience that Craig, Drew and Douglas will bring to our organization will fuel a broader recognition of the power of systems biology to revolutionize science and medicine.”
