CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., July 10, 2013/PRNewswire/ -- MicroAire® announced today their entry into the Biologics market with the launch of the StromaCell mechanical cell-separation device. The StromaCell system is designed to prepare an autologous nucleated cell concentrate from a sample of adipose tissue, or fat, at the patient's point of care. The StromaCell's closed-system design uses centrifugation to concentrate a stromal-vascular fraction (SVF) from adipose tissue, for which there are numerous applications.

The StromaCell has multiple chambers designed to isolate the dense nucleated cells through centrifugation - a technique that has been used for decades. However, the StromaCell makes extracting the cell concentrate easier than using a typical centrifuge tube. The StromaCell canister holds 500ml of lipoaspirate and is part of a sterile kit containing items that allow the operator to transfer the contents of the canister back into the sterile field after centrifugation. MicroAire® is also offering a laboratory-quality centrifuge for use with the StromaCell, which has additional applications in the operating room.

"StromaCell is an elegant way to isolate a cell concentrate from adipose tissue with minimal manipulation of the tissue. It's designed to help surgeons achieve more predictable results, which is very important in Aesthetic surgery," said Arthur Pike, General Manager of MicroAire® Aesthetics. "The StromaCell is an exciting product for MicroAire® because it is the first device that gets ten times more nucleated cells than other approved cell-separation technologies, such as bone marrow aspirate concentrate. Plus, it's so simple to use just put it into the centrifuge and ten minutes later you've got stromal cells."

MicroAire® Aesthetics strives for quality business growth by meeting surgeons' needs with safe, reliable and superior surgical products, as demonstrated with the recent launch of two other noteworthy devices, the LipoFilter and the LipoTower.

LipoFilter is a closed, sterile, fat harvesting and separation system designed to remove lipoaspirate fluid from adipose tissue through gravity decanting.

LipoTower is a powerful all-in-one surgical cart providing complete tumescent liposuction capability in the operating room. This UL®-listed device features strong, reliable, tumescent infiltration and aspiration pumps, a touchscreen interface, and a console that can be controlled directly by a PAL® handpiece.

MicroAire® Aesthetics is a segment of MicroAire® Surgical Instruments, which is located in Charlottesville, Virginia. As a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of surgical products, they offer an extensive Aesthetic surgery product line including Endotine® bioabsorbable multi-point fixation devices, the PAL® LipoSculptor, the LipoTower surgical cart, and the LipoFilter fat processing system.
