Michael Hammerschmidt Named VP for Development of the Life Sciences Foundation

2/20/2013 3:37:36 PM

February 20, 2013 -- Michael Hammerschmidt became vice president for development of the Life Sciences Foundation effective February 19, 2013.

The Life Sciences Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to capturing the history, preserving the heritage and sharing the stories of biotechnology. He brings with him thirty years of development experience in healthcare and academics and has worked with a range of established and start-up organizations. Most recently, Michael served as Senior Advisor for the National Institute for Psychobiology in Israel. Michael will be based in Boston.

“I am honored to be part of capturing and preserving the rich history of biotech” he says.

“Reflecting on our past successes and failures holds many important lessons for the leaders of today and tomorrow." “We are fortunate to have attracted a seasoned development director,” says Heather Erickson, President and CEO of the Life Sciences Foundation.

“His extensive experience in development will enable the Foundation to complete the initial projects quicker and broaden our presence on both coasts.”

The Life Sciences Foundation is fulfilling its mission through archive collections, interviews with biotech pioneers, educational events, collaboration on a biotech documentary and publications.
