More than two years ago, Merck announced it would transform the former Schering-Plough campus in Kenilworth into a state-of-the-art research center and slowly wind down the manufacturing unit. On Thursday, Merck confirmed it had sent layoff notices to the final 113 employees in a manufacturing division that once was many times that number. The facility will be shuttered by October.
