Meet Boston Scientific Corporation's Highest-paid Executive (Hint: Not the CEO)

Boston Business Journal by Julie M. Donnelly, Reporter

Last year, Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE: BSX) paid interim CEO William H. Kucheman total compensation valued at $4.7 million.

But the really big bucks went to former Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) medical device and diagnostics group chairman Michael Mahoney, who was named President of the Natick, Mass.-based medical device company last October.

Mahoney will take over as CEO of Boston Scientific in November of this year. He received total compensation of $11.7 million last year, including salary of $187,397, a signing bonus of $1.5 million and stock awards valued by the company at $9.5 million, according to a proxy statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Kucheman’s compensation for 2011 included salary of $630,754, stock awards valued at $1.3 million, stock options valued at $978,578 and non-equity incentive compensation of $560,000. He will continue to serve as interim CEO until November.
