RAYNHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Medrobotics Corp., a surgical products company with core competencies in medical robotics, announced today that it was named a winner and a Rising Star at the prestigious New England Innovation Awards presented annually by the Smaller Business Association of New England, Inc., (SBANE).

“The New England Innovation Awards showcases the best innovative companies in our region who possess the most explosive growth potential to expand our economic base. The health of the New England Economy depends upon the creative forces of innovation to drive capital formation and job creation”

Medrobotics was selected as one of two winners in the Rising Star category and one of eight winners overall from a pool of over 175 nominees. Rising Stars are companies in the early stage of development that have clearly demonstrated the validity of their business, but may not yet be profitable. “The New England Innovation Awards showcases the best innovative companies in our region who possess the most explosive growth potential to expand our economic base. The health of the New England Economy depends upon the creative forces of innovation to drive capital formation and job creation,” said SBANE President, Robert Baker.

“I am honored and proud to accept this award on behalf of the entire Medrobotics team,” said Samuel Straface, Ph.D., President and CEO of Medrobotics. “We are deeply grateful to be recognized for our history of innovation in New England, and we remain committed to bringing the benefits of minimally invasive surgery to more patients around the world.”

Minimally invasive surgery has demonstrated advantages for patients and providers compared to traditional open procedures, decreasing hospital stays and recovery times. Medrobotics’ Flex® System was designed to provide an affordable, easy-to-use computer-assisted surgical platform for hospitals and surgeons seeking to provide minimally-invasive treatment options to the broadest number of patients.
