Hey, MedImmune's hiring!
MedImmune's Gaithersburg headquarters will gain 300 jobs under a U.S. consolidation by parent AstraZeneca PLC, the companies announced Monday. The move follows management changes at both companies. Pascal Soriot was named CEO of London-based AstraZeneca in August, and early this year he initiated a leadership shuffle at the pharmaceutical company that included installing Bahija Jallal as MedImmune's new chief. She replaced Peter Greenleaf, who is heading AstraZeneca's Latin American unit. Under the changes announced Monday, MedImmune and Maryland appear to be the beneficiaries of a cutback by AstraZeneca, which is moving roughly 1,200 positions out of its operations in Wilmington, Del., according to a news release.
