MedImmune, Inc. (Jobs) to Hire More Employees, CEO Says

In a bid to reassure his local biotech colleagues that MedImmune Inc.'s recent sale won't lead to a downsizing, CEO David Mott said Thursday morning that the company actually intends to ramp up its hiring. Mott said MedImmune will remain an independently run arm of its new owner, London-based AstraZeneca PLC, and bring on roughly 200 research and development staffers a year -- four times the hiring rate would have been possible if it hadn't agreed to be sold.
