Medicsight Launches Medical Imaging Software Portal For Radiologists

CHICAGO, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Medicsight, Inc. , a medical imaging software company offering products for disease detection, diagnosis and patient management, today announced the United States launch of Medicexchange.com, a medical imaging software portal for radiology professionals. Plans for Medicexchange.com were unveiled at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual conference at Chicago's McCormick Place.

Medicexchange.com provides downloadable access to medical imaging software and related clinical research and developments, improving radiologists' ability to provide faster and more reliable patient diagnosis. Traditionally, radiologists' access to advanced imaging software involved a large capital investment in the software for their workstations. Medicexchange.com offers access to a variety of advanced imaging software in a pay-per-use portal that eliminates the need for a large capital investment in software.

Medicexchange.com targets five clinical application areas with imaging software from software partners:

* Cardiac * Thoracic * Breast Imaging * Orthopedic * Gastro Intestinal

Adam Boyse, Medicexchange CEO, stated, "Up until now, radiologists traditionally had limited access to advanced 3D imaging software to assist with patient diagnosis. With Medicexchange.com, these medical imaging professionals now have immediate access to downloadable imaging solutions, on a flexible pricing basis all through a single familiar and trusted online portal."

Research shows that radiologists around the world agree that there is a growing demand for improved access to online medical imagery in order to improve patient diagnosis and care. A survey by market research firm Frost & Sullivan of radiological professionals in the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific markets showed:

* An average of 88 percent agree that there is increased demand for advance visualization when treating patients. * 83 percent surveyed indicate, on average, that there is an increased volume of medical images needed per patient exam. * On average, 83 percent agree that there is a need for medical imagery to provide faster patient diagnosis. * Overall, an average of 90 percent of those radiologists surveyed agreed that there is a need for improved advanced imagery access to provide more reliable patient diagnosis. * 85 percent appreciate the idea of having easy, "one-stop-shop" access to a medical imaging software portal to meet their rapidly evolving software needs.

Medicexchange.com also provides relevant clinical content within each Web-based community along with news feeds, forums and presentations.

Boyse concluded, "With Medicexchange.com, medical imaging professionals now have online communities focused on their specialty supported by on-demand imaging software solutions in a digitally-downloadable format. This is a truly unique global portal with products and content tailored for each region."
