Mederi Therapeutics Inc. Release: Stretta®, an Innovative Treatment for Gastric Reflux Disease Featured on MBC Green Apples Television Program

3/5/2013 1:08:33 PM

GREENWICH, Conn., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The popular and informative MBC health program Green Apples recently aired a health segment on a common condition called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD. In this program, GERD was successfully treated with an innovative therapy called Stretta. Stretta uses a type of energy called radiofrequency, or RF, to remodel the valve at the top of the stomach and restore the ability to keep food contained within the stomach. Stretta is a safe and effective, minimally invasive, endoscopic treatment that takes less than an hour to perform. "We have had tremendous success in eliminating or dramatically reducing the symptoms of GERD in the patients we have treated with Stretta," stated Dr. Ali Khalil of Clemenceau Medical Center in Beirut.

Stretta just received the strongest possible recommendation for safety and effectiveness from the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). "More than 30 peer reviewed studies, including 4 adequately powered randomized, controlled studies, a comprehensive meta-analysis and multiple prospective clinical trials have documented the safety and efficacy of the Stretta procedure. Durable treatment outcomes to at least 48 months also have been demonstrated in multiple studies, with a significant reduction or elimination of medications used to treat the symptoms of GERD, as well as improvement in GERD qualify of life and symptom scores," the SAGES statement read.

Stretta is currently available throughout the Middle East, including KSA, the UAE, Kuwait, and Lebanon. More locations for Stretta treatment are being added every week.
