During Baltimore Innovation Week, 7th and 8th graders from the James McHenry School will have the opportunity to participate in the Micropipette Challenge, a hands-on laboratory experiment, aboard the MdBioLab. Instructors will teach students proper pipetting techniques as they recreate the visible spectrum using colored liquid samples.
The MdBioLab is a custom-designed mobile laboratory that serves students and teachers across Maryland, with the goal of increasing student knowledge and confidence with laboratory concepts and techniques, while alleviating the budgetary burdens of laboratory science on schools. Since 2003, the MdBioLab has served more than 130,000 students in more than 450 schools across Maryland. MdBioLab is the flagship education of the MdBio Foundation, a non-profit that has provided innovative and effective STEM education and workforce development programs across Maryland since 1997.
